Methylhexanamine in Jack3d supplement is a prohibited drug

In view of the recent reports that Hong Kong athletes have been implicated in the use of Methylhexaneamine

(MHA), the Hong Kong Sports Doping Committee once again strongly urges athletes to check whether any supplements contain the banned substance MHA before taking them. In the 2012 banned list of the World Sports Anti-Doping Agency, MHA is listed as a stimulant and is a banned substance in competition.

MHA can often be labeled by different names, such as “1,3-dimethylamylamine” in the supplement “Jack3d”. The following are the different names of MHA:

Methylhexanamine Geranamine 2-hexanamine,4-methyl-(9CI) 1,3-dimethylamylamine Geranium oil, extract 1,3-dimethylpentylamine dimethylamylamine (DMAA) dimethylpentylamine Pentylamine Forthan 4-methyl-2-hexanamine Pentylamine,1,3-dimethyl Forthane 4-methylhexan-2-amine 4-methyl-2-hexylamine Floradrene2-amino-4-methylhexane 1,3-dimethylamylamine-
forthane dimethyhexaneamine 2-hexanamine,4-methyl- C7H17N

Under the strict liability principle, an athlete is responsible for any prohibited substance found in his/her body, regardless of whether the positive case was caused by intentional ingestion. Therefore, athletes must bear the potential risks when taking supplements and must carefully check the ingredients of supplements.
